Jefferson Village Building E

Client: Zimmer Development Company

The project consisted of completing a huge retail development - a mini-life style
center.  The owner asked our team to design the final building of the center with the
requirement that it match the rest of the complex.  The design team used similar EIFS
hues, brick types and patterns to achieve this goal.  Mark was also the project
manager for the Books A Million fit-up.  Design input contributed by Becky Buckley.

This challenging project required the redesign for the facade of a 1970’s era retail
building that included a theater space, while at the same time maintaining business
operations for three existing tenants.  The first decision made was to remove the
unsightly canopy off the front wall and replace it with canvas awnings.  The old
theater space will be converted into space for an urgent care center (designed by
others).

Designed as a 7,000 SF retail building, this project was to be located along the
main corridor between Wrightsville Beach and historic downtown Wilmington: busy,
car-oriented Market Street.  The main tenant was to be Starbuck’s Coffee and the
building design included coordination with their drive-thru requirements.  The
design featured exposed steel columns, a corrugated and perforated stainless
steel canopy and translucent wall panels.

  • Tenant alteration located at Independence Mall
  • Construction to be completed August 2010

Client: Studio VII

The existing mall tenant presently owns a piercing salon but wanted to expand to
include tattooing services to its customers.  Leasing a vacant and immediately
adjacent space, the owners' desire was to create an opening in the existing space
to connect the two functions.  Once opened, the shop will be the first of its kind to be
located at Independence Mall.

The front of the store will serve as merchandising space for clothing and will contain
two small changing rooms.  At the rear of the store, four artist stations will be
located on a small platform, separated from the merchandise area by a low
translucent wall.  Patrons will be able to select art work from four large, touch-
screen computers.  An employee lounge and instrument cleaning station will be
constructed behind the public areas.

Fear River and to include space for patrons

    structure

Client: The Blue Marlin

This building is found on the National
Register of Historic Places having
been originally constructed in 1910
as a train depot.  The interior had
recently been completely damaged
by fire.  The design team was called
in to design a total renovation while
meeting the historic committee's
stringent requirements.  The concept
that followed was to expose the
original load-bearing masonry walls
and to replicate what had once been
a gorgeous wood ceiling.

In an effort to win a prominent regional coffee franchiser as a client, proVision
worked on a prototype design for their stores and built a full 3D model with which to
present our ideas.  We are confident that our efforts will be rewarded as the
economy turns around and new franchise stores begin to open again.
